Experience Japan with our host Yoshi Amao, founder of Samurai Sword Soul! As seen in Hulu's new hit series SHOGUN! Japanese Sword Stage Fighting, known as "Tate" (ta-te) in Japan, is a form of samurai theatre that utlizes authentic Japanese swordsmanship and martial arts. After studying sword fighting more under the sword master, Tahei Waki, Sensei Amao started his own samurai sword fighting class and formed a sword fighting performance group, "Samurai Sword Soul" In this class, learn the basics of authentic Japanese swordsmanship, including strikes, stances, sword safety, as well as sword fighting choreography! We welcome everyone of all backgrounds and skill levels! This class is perfect for those interested in experiencing Japanese culture, learning Japanese swordsmanship, actors looking to improve their on-screen sword skills, an adventurous outing with friends, family and coworkers, and so much more! Please note that athletic attire is recommended during the class (t-shirt and shorts/sweatpants) as it involves intense physical activity. All equipment will be provided during the class (bokken and Kaku-obi). If you have a Gi and Hakama, you are welcome to wear it during the class, but it is not required. Book your class today!
